Hostgator vs DreamHost

Hostgator vs DreamHost: the two most popular shared web hosting services in the industry.
When you compare the two services, there are many similarities. Both have widely praise customer service, host millions of websites, and are competitively priced. After that, however, the similarities end. Whereas Hostgator has taken a professional approach to web hosting, DreamHost aims for a “relaxed corporate atmosphere”, trying to feel personable in an otherwise cold business. That same “relaxed” atmosphere led to a major firestorm when DreamHost had a billing error resulting in millions of accidental charges (which DreamHost refunded), and the “Do’h”. This shows the type of leadership error that can occur with this type of approach.
Hostgator on the other hand, has hands-on and professional leadership, with CEO Brent Oxley, the man who started Hostgator from his tiny Texas apartment into one of the largest businesses in Texas, who has also won over much fame for sometimes stepping in and resolving a difficult situation in a way everyone is happy with.
Overall, Hostgator seems to have won over the webmaster community. Most webmasters recommend or have only good things to say about Hostgator. The prices of Hostgator are slightly lower, yet the features perhaps more generous. It may vary based on what features you are looking for in a web hosting service, but in the DreamHost vs Hostgator fight, overall Hostgator wins this round.
