What Differentiates Chrome OS From The Others?‎

For a beginner, let’s make our understanding simple and straight forward:

Chrome OS is based on the open software platform Linux. It is seen as a cloud computing device.The only window that opens up on logging in is the Chrome Web Browser.As a web browser, it does not support any installations on the window. The applications stay open on the tab bar of the browser.Adherence to certain system requirements on a customized hardware tends to limit the availability of applications once the initial choices are made, with no chances to download the required application.

Reliance of the Chrome OS on Solid state Devices instead of the familiar rotating disc hard drives is a bit of botheration.A totally unfamiliar keyboard design would require a new learning process of adaptation.The time taken to boot has been considerably reduced in Chrome, a blessing in disguise considering the booting times of other operating systems.

With nothing to manage virtually on the screen, the need for anti virus protection has been eliminated. This is certainly advantageous.However, it would be difficult to find the right URL that has to be entered in the address bar, and may complicate the issue.

Our data in their servers. There is a strong possibility of infringements upon individual privacy to further the cause of acquiring user patterns.  Encrypted local data protected with sandboxes.  Trouble averted a good sign. Need to use their branded netbooks. It is not known whether the problems that surfaced in the usability were addressed or not.These are issues that time only can counter.
