Zoom to 1984. And you have a picture when IBM, the Big Brother ruled the roost. Mac was nowhere in the frame. But Apple took a guided step, to promote their product and relate their position to their customers in a subtle yet teasing way. Rewind to the ad that Apple showcased to project Macintosh saving the Americans from the Big Brother! Time changed and the iPhone, the App.Store, the iOS followed suit. Did the role of the Big Brother change hands?
Enter Motorola and 2011. They encounter a similar situation that Apple encountered years ago, and want to break their way in! They want to reinvent the ad in their own, subtle way and indicate what has gone wrong and what needs to be done. Play the game of perception to a high degree of perfection!
Different critics have elaborated on the teasing ad with their own perspective views. But then individual perceptions vary and it is based on their past experiences and future expectations! So let us leave it at that!
