Symantec To Partner With Adgregate Markets
Security firm Symantec and social commerce firm Adgregate Markets are getting together as partners to offer SSL certificates and the VeriSign Trust Seal. This facility is available only to customers of ShopFans, a Facebook e-commerce stores application within the social networking platform.
ShopFans, is a native Facebook Platform application that enables brands to tie up directly with all the infrastructure provided in the Facebook. Almost 92 percent of marketing personnel are keen to market their products through Facebook based applications, and a recent report also found 71 percent of users willing to purchase after getting a suitable deal.
The need to protect both the retailers and their Facebook fans was an important concern. Hence both Symantec and Adgregate came together to offer them security using their web based security expertise. The combined total online annual sales at ShopFans was worth over $8.5 billion.
Facebook had become very popular and had a huge following and a platform for commerce was but inevitable, but security and trust were essential to convert fans into customers – and to keep them returning for more. Adgregate, had an impeccable vision for social commerce in taking the Facebook forward in a totally different direction. The VeriSign Trust seal enabled on the Facebook stores targeting ShopFans would convert more browsers into buyers by offering them trust, and security. The VeriSign Trust Seal would confirm the identity of the site operator as independently authenticated by Symantec.
