Oracle Introduces Oracle Cloud File System

Oracle has introduced their Oracle Cloud File System to accommodate storage pooling ‎through a typically elastic storage cloud.‎Certain features of the new Oracle Cloud File System consist of snapshots and ‎replications of files meant for backup, secured data access and encryption as well as ‎aggregate management operations using appropriate file tags.‎

Oracle Cloud File System is a dependable system that delivers every component and ‎characteristic deemed as necessary by customers to deploy on a storage cloud. ‎Organizations would better discard expensive, difficult to manage and difficult to scale ‎hardware and complimenting storage silos in preference to an easily available, scalable ‎cloud environment that can quickly adapt to changes in workloads to meet their ever ‎increasing service level obligations. Oracle customers can shift their system to a more ‎dependable cloud storage environment with the Oracle Cloud File System.‎

With the Oracle Cloud File System a customer can integrate the Oracle Automatic ‎Storage Management Cluster File System and the Automatic Storage Management ‎Dynamic Volume Manager. The cluster file system stores all the relevant files and the ‎volume manager extends volume management support, thus enabling complete storage of ‎all file system data. The Oracle Cloud File System is priced at $5,000 per processor.‎

Just a week ago, Amazon Web Services had indicated their plans to add the Oracle 11g ‎database to their web hosting portfolio.‎
