Nokia To Use Microsoft Software
Nokia, is all about to discard their own cellphone operating system and switch over to softwares developed by Microsoft, in an attempt to revive the company’s sagging fortunes and regain lost ground in their market.
The parnership between the two giants, whose products ruled supreme in the marketplace, is a calculated risk to gain a lasting foothold in the mushrooming market for smart-phones, a place where Apple and Google have already established their presence with their products like iPad and Android based devices.
Nokia was passing through a critical time, where significant changes were necessary and inevitable. It was time they took a new path, to regain market leadership, and to recover their true value of their investments. There is no doubt that the Microsoft OS still reigns supreme in the PC market but PCs are being replaced by the growing mobile smart devices. Gaining access to the internet had become a priority for Microsoft, with a mere 2% presence in the overall mobile software market. Microsoft stands to gain much more than Nokia in these circumstances. Microsoft has developed only around 8000 applications by using their OS while Apple had close to 350,000 applications developed for iPhone.
The one big question to be answered is how swiftly Nokia can execute this challenging assignment.
