Microsoft’s New Strategy To Promote Windows Based Tablets
Microsoft has brought out a ten slide Power Point Presentation on how to convince iPad users to start migrating to Windows-based tablets on the internet.
Microsoft has listed the many advantages Windows possess over the iPad. These include Microsoft supporting a wide range of form factors, their full compatibility with enterprise applications and the availability of their applications offline. A three-page table highlighting the advantages of Windows over iOS is an eye opener. Microsoft considers the new Windows user interface as the most ideal, being the most familiar UI among all end users.
That the Windows 7 interface was more suitable for keyboard and mouse based PCs rather than touch based screen devices has not been countered with. The iPad continues to remain well organized for touch-enabled applications.
Other highlights on Microsoft include the searchable file system, full support available for Microsoft Exchange and Office, and relate to enterprise-friendly features like remote device management, full support for Flash and Silverlight, etc.
From Apple’s viewpoint, the iPad’s form factor, insightful interface and extended battery life are powerful and commercially appealing factors. End-user interest is leading to adoption in various business applications spontaneously.
‘Use devices that are right for your end uses’ – and ‘one size does not fit all’ form the strategies being employed by MS to lure potential customers. Ironically, Microsoft had planned their next version to be run on ARM based processors. Windows 8 is yet to see the light of the day.
