ITM Power And UPS To Participate In Program ‘HOST’

ITM Power, the renowned energy storage and clean fuel company, has entered into an ‎agreement with UPS to participate in a program known as the Hydrogen On Site Trials ‎‎(HOST) of using the fuel produced at the transportable high pressure re-fuelling unit (HFuel) managed by ITM Power. ‎The HFuel unit was earlier built by ITM with technical support and assistance from the ‎Technology Strategy Board (TSB). The portable unit is capable of producing hydrogen ‎gas on-site by elecrolysing water. The hydrogen gas thus produced is then used to fuel ‎ITM’s prototype HFuel based vehicles.‎

UPS is a well known package delivery company, presently offering services in 220 ‎countries and territories. UPS has deployed 100,000 delivery vehicles worldwide, that ‎includes the largest privately held alternative fuel fleet in the transportation industry, ‎numbering 2,000 vehicles. UPS operates a ‘rolling laboratory’ – to explore the benefits of ‎using alternative-fuel options for the transportation industry. The UPS fleet has over the ‎years accumulated valuable data on the viability of using different fuel options and ‎technologies in the real-world.‎

The addition of UPS to the HOST trials would have significant impact as the data and ‎feedback generated by UPS using the Hfuel would make the HOST program a ‎success.‎
