IBM And ARM Combine To Explore New Mobile Markets

IBM and ARM are joining forces to provide the next generation mobile products that ‎would combine both ARM’s processors and IBM’s highly developed 14nm manufacturing ‎process.‎

With consumer demand for high end features and high battery life increasing, chip ‎designers were looking at ‘nanometer level changes’ to meet performance goals.‎

The collaboration would align the manufacturing process using ARMs microprocessors ‎to minimize the risk of changeover to the smaller scale manufacturing processes and ‎speed up the evolution of advanced electronics to the market.‎

It is worthwhile to note that the two together have already successfully merged an ARM ‎Cortex-A9 based processor core on IBM’s new 32nm High-K Metal Gate ‎technology.‎
