Google’s New Android Market Apps
An interesting application in the Android market and a sequel to Kindle Books is the newly rolled out web based Book Section, offering free books and retail e-books. This can be accessed on the PC or in the Google Apps for Android in iOS platforms. Clicking on the Books Link will lead you further to other interesting sub-sites depending on your taste and choice. What stands out is the ease of navigation between well demarcated categories like Science Fiction and Fantasies etc. e-Book prices have been pegged a wee bit lower than other providers for obvious reasons.
The book section is lodged at the top-right of the Android Market, in between the Android Apps shortcut and the store’s search field. Since Books are easily available at other places also, this is not a breakthrough achievement but a commonplace occurrence.
The next application being targeted by Google for the Android market relates to bringing music and video in their systems. The Xoom tablet provided both music and video services. A new tool bar is also being appended to provide social networking services as per indications received from Google, to take on Facebook. The navigation is consistent and is likely to be a visual update. It is obvious that Google is taking measured steps to take on their competitors squarely.
