Fibertown, Digital Realty Building New Data Center

FIBERTOWN, a Houston-based provider of co-location facilities, is breaking ground for ‎building a 50,000 square foot data center in North Houston, in association with data ‎center operator Digital Realty Trust .‎

The new data center is the third facility coming up at the intersection of 145 and Beltway ‎‎8 North, in Houston, Central Texas, and situated beyond hurricane prone zones, to attract ‎customers. With demand for quality data center space in Houston growing, more ‎companies are planning to co-locate to ensure better availability of resources and lower ‎IT costs. The easy accessibility and closeness to fiber make North Houston an ideal ‎location for their latest state-of-the-art facility.

FIBERTOWN has partnered with Digital ‎Realty Trust to expand the facility as a typical modular Turn-Key Datacenter solution.‎ Digital was extending their expertise to explore new opportunities for co-location ‎providers like FIBERTOWN. Digital Realty’s “pod” architecture, capable of delivering ‎redundant dual power to each of three data center pods, would be deployed in the new ‎facility. Other facilities like use of multiple generators with back-up fuel, 2N redundant ‎cooling infrastructure, a 24×7 network operations center, internal and boundary level ‎security controls, efficient hot and cold aisle design and modern smoke and fire ‎protection are also included. The facility would be available for occupation in July.‎
