CyrusOne Houston Data Center Earns LEED Silver Certification

The West Houston data center belonging to Co-location provider CyrusOne recently ‎earned LEED Silver Certification from the US Green Building Council after due ‎verification by the Green Building Certification Institute for adopting environmentally ‎friendly features in their facility, located along the North West Beltway between ‎Interstate I-10 and Highway 290.The CyrusOne West Houston data center is the first to ‎be classified under the core and shell category and the second data center to be certified ‎in Houston.‎

Improved thermal envelope, highly efficient glazing, lower interior lighting power ‎density, occupancy sensors, lower exterior lighting rating, highly efficient air-cooled ‎chillers and highly efficient HVAC systems are the many considerations that have been ‎favorably addressed to earn this coveted certification.‎

CyrusOne was committed to adopt LEED sustainable design guidelines to save energy ‎consumption and reduce costs. The state-of-art facility provides an ambient work ‎environment, high intrinsic value to customers, security and reliability. CyrusOne has been very dedicated in fulfilling the LEED approach since the company began their construction activities with groundbreaking ceremony on the 200,000 ‎square foot planned green-field project, till completion in about six months. The data ‎center had adopted a redundant 2N architecture supporting power densities of ‎approximately 250 watts per square foot. The data center has been built to sustain strong ‎hurricanes, the facility is located outside the FEMA 500 year flood plain and boasts of ‎reinforced roofs, concrete walls and hurricane shutters.‎

The building was designed by Duane Bradshaw Architects and Chuck Prichard ‎Consulting. Kirksey Architects completed the LEED certification documentation. This is ‎Metzger Construction’s sixth LEED-certified building.‎
