Canonical has partnered with Dell to integrate Ubuntu Enterprise Cloud on Dell ‎PowerEdge servers. The standard edition permits software developers and IT organizations to operate cloud ‎programs and also test and develop them in a pre-configured infrastructure. Ubuntu, an ‎open-source implementation, is being provided by Amazon Web Services. Ubuntu ‎enables both capacity growth and workload sharing.‎

Open source had become the driving force behind cloud computing. This initiative serves ‎as an example of the improved efficiency, better savings and flexibility that open source ‎applications bring and the power they deliver to any data center for others to emulate, and ‎to develop their internal cloud infrastructure with relevant hardware and support from ‎trusted sources.‎

Dell’s PowerEdge C2100 and C6100 servers and Ubuntu software would be shipped with ‎tested reference architectures and a detailed implementation guides. Dell and Canonical ‎experts would also extend their support services. The Company was able to deliver an ‎IaaS solution as an integrated package entirely based on open standards by partnering ‎with Canonical. Dell was introducing new technologies to market after optimizing ‎efficiency at every layer, including all aspects of servers, storage and code, in accordance ‎with their strategies, and making computing resources more accessible to a wider range ‎of businesses like telcos, media and entertainment, and financial services, involving ‎substantial amount of software development work.‎
