Apple iOS Based Devices Clock 2% Of Browser Market
Net Applications recently released their latest worldwide browser market share findings. Accordingly, in the month of January, the iOS mobile operating system and the Mobile Safari browser developed by Apple reached the 2 percent share for the first time.
The iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, operating on the iOS, touched 2.06 percent of all global browsing in January. The growth of iOS market share was particularly noticeable during the holidays, indicating that Apple’s products were given away as gifts.
Apple recorded their greatest market share in Singapore, where iOS clocked 9.98 percent of all Web browsing traffic. In Australia, 5.6 percent of browser traffic came from iOS devices. The U.K. recorded a strong showing, with 5.1 percent of total Web traffic. In the U.S., it was 3.4 percent of all browser traffic.
Apple has now sold more than 160 million iOS devices since the iPhone was first launched in 2007. Growth was particularly high in 2010 with the introduction of the iPad and the iPhone 4.
