Adobe’s Flash Player Gaining Ground
Even as Apple failed to perceive the benefit of using the Flash Player in their mobile devices, Adobe Systems see a huge potential for Flash based products in the near future.
Adobe expects a stupendous 600% growth in the smart-phones market having built in Flash 10.1 Player installed in various mobile devices during 2011, equivalent to the sale of almost 132 million smart-phones and from the contribution of over 50 tablet models which could carry the application. During the six months following the launch of Flash 10.1, as many as 20 million smart-phones have been shipped that later carried the application.
Flash 10.1 Player is being used in Android, BlackBerry Tablet OS and Hewlett Packard’s WebOS, among others. Adobe also has showcased Flash Player 10.2, containing new features like Stage Video to display improved video scenes on mobile devices, desktops and TVs.
The most popular smart-phone in the U.S. having the Flash application, belonged to the Droid family, like the Droid X or the HTC Evo. Although Flash is not necessary to access the web, devices carrying the flash were found to be more enjoyable.
